Is Windows VISTA for me?
Yes, if you desire to be
Bill Gates' personal guinea pig. Just like XP prior to the
second service pack, all of those that "enjoyed" the new operating
system also got to enjoy all of the bugs yet to be worked out.
For those that waited until SP2 was distributed, they enjoyed XP
without having to help Uncle Bill each day.
Yes, if you desire to
purchase either a new computer since with very few exceptions you
cannot get XP installed. Think about a minimum of 1gig
of RAM and a graphics card that is compatible with DirectX 9.
And remember to double whatever system requirements are published to
keep from daily crashes.
Yes, if you desire to
spend $240 for Vista-Premium since Vista Home-Basic is not even
worth getting for $200. And please forget "upgrading" your
current XP install to VISTA. So far more systems have crashed
doing the upgrade than the 98-to-XP upgrade. If you're getting
VISTA, go for a clean-full install.
Yes, if you must have the
"latest" not so greatest operating system Microsoft has to offer.
You must be asking, why are we so hard on Vista? Because once
again, Microsoft will convince billions of computer users that they
need VISTA to survive. The truth from our perspective is that
VISTA is a cute OS that will do little more for the average user but
empty their wallet.
